IRC is a old but very widely used realtime chat system for furs. most Furry chat happen on the Furnet network ( foxtaur.furnet.org , for the Foxtaur server on that network )Here in New Zealand we have one main channel for NZ furs to hang out ( #nzfurs )
You'll also need a IRC client and there are plenty out there, but here's one that I have used for years http://www.visualirc.net/features.php , just be sure to add the update patch that is also on that site.
