NZFurs Chat forum: Im stumped, lonely and need of some help

Hi to all the furry beasts out there!!

I live way down in Invercargill and as you may think its quite lonely here- I cant find anyone to share my interest with!
To add to my delema im not to clued up in the finer arts of the internet IRC chat!
I often build computers for my mates but i have never been in a chat room!
Anyway Im posting this to get help on geting on furnet IRC to get in contact with other furrys out there.. The link on the main page dont seem to work with firefox
on my computer!
If flicking me a email is better for you thats cool my address is on the contact page.

IRC is a bit tricky, it is old school.

If you want to have a go you need to install a client. mIRC is a popular windows client, http://www.mirc.com or you could try X-Chat, http://www.silverex.info

Alternatively you might want to check out Second Life, if you computer has a decent 3D card. http://www.secondlife.com

I'm guessing your under windows here, but first off install MIRC from http://www.mirc.com

Once that's installed, set it up with your username/nickname/etc and such in the config window then click OK. Once that's done, you'll have a Status window. In the little gap at the bottom, type in "/server irc.furnet.org" (without the quotes of course). You'll connect into the Furnet IRC network. Once connected, type in "/join #nzfurs" and tadaa. You're in :)

I have now installed mIRC (only could get demo ver) and log'ed in under /join #nzfurs as stated and got conected!! thankyou.

now that im here I wish i had someone to chat to.

Thing is with the new mIRC it locks you out after 30 days, I recommend getting mIRC from www.oldversion.com

I might make an old copy of it available on my server.

The other alternative is to use a multi-im like Trillian for windows or Pidgin ... for all platforms ;)
