Obviously your google skills are not that great then! There's plenty of furs in NZ and some of us have been around for ages.

There is a IRC channel at irc://irc.furnet.org/nzfurs (requires an IRC client) or there's the facebook group (or 3) as well as a skype group chat.

Well, will you be able to add me to this skype group chat, then? Also despite all my traveling I only know one furry here, but he's a douchebag.
