NZFurs Chat forum: Places to go fursuiting???

ok, I LOVE going fursuiting, and one time I went to Albany mall in my fursuit and everything was fine, we had a great time and junk. But the 2nd time I went in, a security guy walked up to me and said "can you remove your head item, its for security reasons" I was SOOO p*ssed off that day, and I wasnt even in a store!!! I was outside the stores (because I DIDNT want any security people getting suspisious 4 no reason)

anywho, basically, my question is, are there any good places to fursuit? without getting pulled aside from a security jerk :S

Because most fursuits completely cover your face, you will get security people treating you suspiciously (don't bother trying to explain that most fursuits are individual, to them a mask is a mask), so you should avoid going on to private property, including places like shopping malls etc., unless you have permission to be there.

Public places like parks are OK, as far as I know, but definitely go with a minder or two who isn't in fursuit to keep an eye out for you, and deflect questions about what you're doing there in a costume.

I'd say the best and safest place to do fursuiting is at an organised furry gathering like FurcoNZ where everyone is fine with people in costume as long as you have your registration badge on.

I wish the security people would let you show your face to them and the cameras so they wuld know what you look like, then you could fursuit around and they would know who was underneath the mask :3 therefore they wouldnt ask you to leave :3

Saddly the world dosnt work that way.. to them there is nothing stopping someone else wearing your suit and getting up to whatever it is they think you might do. or for someone else to be wearing an identical suit somewhere else and robbing a bank or whatever..

I know its sad but yeah you have to be smart and having a minder around to answer questions of the curious non furs is a smart idea. another idea is to find local events where you might fit in while wearing a suit. ie at a sci fi con.. maybe a church picnic something for a charity or a school event.. I mean next time spca is doing a drive see if you can wear your suit and go around the street collecting donations.. just a few ideas.

Yea, that's what I thought :S and I'm pretty sure Ive seen people wear fursuits or things that cover you face there. Well, I'm gonna go to the Auckland one in October this year in a fursuit whether thay like it or not :P :3

Armageddon is a good place to fursuit actually i was hoping to do a suit there and come to FurCoNz this year ^.^ *paws crossed* yeah you will get alot of attention at armageddon :3 believe me ^.^

have you been to armaggeddon in a fursuit before? and awesome, I'm gonna go to the Auckland armaggeddon, then FurcoNZ aswell :3 yay! I'm actually 13 now, but I turn 14 in April, so by the time FurcoNZ comes around, I will be old enough for the day passes (But I cant stay overnight for the whole thing ): oh-well)

I was hoping to go to Armageddon in suit this year too! It would be great to meet some other furs! I actually don't know a single person irl who is a fur. It sucks.

We suited up at Armageddon last year and got very postive welcomes from most of the atendees .. They loved Draconicwolfs red drakewolf suit , and she got a stack of photos with folks. We only had one negative comment from a group of " vamp/goths" which were subtly replied back to in typical Durin Style.

So by all means - plan it - catch up and let us lknow .. Ill be taking Daerachas to the next one for sure !

Im gonna finish my fursuit before October (Armageddon and halloween XD) so yep :P

I'm hoping to get my suit made by October for Armageddon and Halloween too!
And I was talking about Auckland Armageddon! I can't wait! It'll be great!
We will all have to keep in touch and find out what days each other are going and if we will be in suit! Maybe we can meet up or something. >u

I am DEFINITELY COMING UP for Armageddon this year, partly because of RvB being there too, and I will do so with my bodypaints, so look for a black and green scaled dragon while you're there.

hay i mite be going to Armageddon and i don't have a suit (still kinda new :p) so if you need someone to mind the suiters there or if you wanted to just fursuit at any time I would be happy to help :)

Hey im coming in my suit so we could hang out ? im going down sat and sun (posibly if my parents let me) but yeah look for a partial with a BRIGHT blonde rocker wig and a checkered shirt with blue jeans ^.^ :3 this will be me
